October opened with five straight days of rain. Hurricane Ian brought the clouds to the Mid-Atlantic on Friday, September 30th and the sunshine didn’t return in Maryland until October 6th.
It’s also a transitional month within the year, a significant-and historically hard-month for me. I also turn a year older at the end of it, and pass an important milestone in my life.
So I had some thoughts:
And the October rain continues on
but in my heart there is a song,
it sings of colors upon the trees,
this beauty and hope
God also has for me.
Tonight I will sleep,
and dream of the dawn,
the autumnal sunshine,
for which my soul longs.
The sun did come out, and it’s been shining pretty gloriously for the past two weekends, allowing me to soak up those longed for rays of light.
Isn’t there just something about autumn sunshine?
Enjoy these golden scenes.
May you feel the sunshine this week on your skin and in your soul.

“Teach me your way, Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
that I may fear your name.
I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;
I will glorify your name forever.
For great is your love toward me;
you have delivered me from the depths,
from the realm of the dead.”
Psalm 86:11-13
